Frequently asked questions

How do I split a bill with friends?

Upload a photo of your receipt, let the AI list every item, then share the link with your group. Everyone claims what they ordered and instantly sees what they owe.

Is Paragonix free?

Yes. Paragonix is completely free to use, and you don't need to sign up to scan a receipt and split it.

Do my friends need an app or an account?

No. Your friends just open the link you share in any web browser and claim their items — no installation and no account required.

How does the AI receipt scanner work?

Take or upload a photo of the receipt and the AI reads each line item and price for you. You can review and adjust anything before splitting.

Can it split an item shared by several people?

Yes. Any item can be split equally between the people who shared it, or proportionally, so everyone pays their fair share.

Which languages and currencies are supported?

Paragonix works in 11 languages and reads receipts in many currencies, so it works whether you're at home or travelling.

Can I track my spending over time?

Spending insights — Paragonix Statistix — are coming soon and currently in testing. Statistix will show where your money goes by category and shop, how much you saved on discounts, and price comparisons across shops, all in your own currency.

Is my data private?

We don't sell your data. Receipts created as a guest are automatically deleted after 7 days.

How accurate is the scanning?

On a clear photo the AI usually catches every line. Faded thermal paper, creases and poor lighting make it harder. You can correct anything it gets wrong before splitting, so a misread is never stuck.

What if an item is read incorrectly?

Tap the item in the split view and edit the name or price. Nothing is locked, and the totals recalculate as you go.

How long do you keep my receipts?

Receipts uploaded without an account are deleted after 7 days. If you're signed in, they stay in your history until you delete them yourself.

Can an item be split between only some of us?

Yes. Choose who shared it and the cost divides only between those people, not the whole table.

How do I handle a tip or service charge?

Add it as an item and mark it proportional. It's then divided according to how much each person ordered, which is fairer than splitting it equally.

What files can I upload?

JPG, PNG and PDF, up to 5 MB. A photo taken with your phone is fine — you don't need a scanner.

What if the receipt is very long?

Long receipts are split into sections before being read, so a full supermarket shop works as well as a short restaurant bill.

Is there a limit on how many receipts I can scan?

There's a daily limit, because every scan costs us an AI call. Signing in raises it. The upload page always shows how many you have left today.

Can I use it for flatmate expenses, not just restaurants?

Yes. Create a group for your flat, add receipts as you go, and it keeps a running balance of who owes whom — so debts offset each other instead of needing a transfer after every shop.

How do people pay me back?

Paragonix generates a bank transfer QR code that the other person scans in their banking app, so nobody has to copy an account number. You can also turn on email reminders for outstanding repayments.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can scan a receipt and split it as a guest, and the people you share the link with never need an account either. Signing in gets you receipt history, groups and a higher daily limit.

Do you show personalised ads?

No. Ads are matched to product categories read from the receipt, never to your identity, and advertisers receive nothing that identifies you. Marketing cookies are set only if you consent.
